Nobody's Done This Yet — GAC Aion V vs UT Side by Side

Watch my exclusive walkaround comparison side by side of the GAC Aion UT and Aion V together. I visited the new GAC Aion dealership in Burwood literally next to a petrol station. With fuel prices screaming at me from the sign behind, I compared GAC's two hot new electric car options for the Australian market - the Aion UT hatchback and the Aion V SUV. At just over $30K, the Aion UT is raising some eyebrows about what affordable EVs with great range (430km WLTP) can now offer, and I put it through its paces in this walkaround. I checked what you actually get in the boot (and what you don't), squeezed myself into the back seat (all 1.91 metres of me) and went through the interior feature by feature from the infotainment and charging setup to a few little surprises I didn't expect. The Aion V gets a proper walkaround look too, and there are some clear differences in specifications between the two that matter depending on which one you're considering. I've got some thoughts on where GAC is heading in Australia, what they'll need to get right to build a loyal customer base and a few honest observations about both cars. Whether these electric cars are the real deal at this price, you'll want to watch and decide for yourself.
