In this fifth episode of Sicily to Discover, we find ourselves catapulted into Nicosia. We're in the province of Enna, in a beautiful hilly area, between the Nebrodi and Madonie mountains. The city of Nicosia is authentic. Its history is ancient and its artistic heritage is of the highest caliber. In the Middle Ages, it became the fourth most important state city in Sicily, after Palermo, Catania, and Messina. In 1700, in fact, there were 24 Barons, 2 Marquises, 1 Count, and 103 churches. The religious battles between the Mariani and Nicoleti families, and the spectacular story of the 2 Christs and the 2 Saints. In Nicosia, every alley has a story to tell. Centuries-old traditions are handed down over time, like that picturesque, almost incomprehensible dialect typical of the Lombard towns of Sicily. And much more...
