Improvisation: devising a solution to a requirement without the resources expected to produce that solution. What can happen when a group of musicians has no written notes, but does have a conductor and a few hand signals? IMPROVESTRA pushes the boundaries of what is expected and what is possible in musical conversation. Adam Conrad is the creator and conductor of IMPROVESTRA, a groove based, improvising orchestra. Adam hails from a family of professional musicians in southern California and currently works as a composer, conductor and educator in the Twin Cities of Minnesota.
