While fully Catholic and united with the Pope of Rome, it worships according to the Byzantine tradition, emphasizing the believer's journey toward union with God through the process of divinization (theosis). Its rich liturgy engages all the senses through icons, incense, sacred chant, and the Holy Mysteries, fostering a profound encounter with the divine. The Byzantine tradition also places great importance on prayer, fasting, spiritual discipline, and strong communal life as essential elements of Christian growth. By faithfully preserving these ancient practices, Byzantine Catholics maintain a living connection to the faith and worship of the early Church.
