It was piloted by Tatsumi Hori of the Orb Disaster Relief Team. Developed in secret by Orb, the Eclipse's standout feature is its ability to transform from a flight mode to Mobile Suit (MS) form. It’s equipped with Mirage Colloid technology and specialized features for covert operations under the Orb Disaster Relief (ODR) organization. Two units of the Eclipse have been confirmed to exist. The MVF-X01 Eclipse was designed with the goal of integrating supersonic fighter capabilities into an MS, enabling it to operate at ultra-high speeds, high altitudes, and cover long distances. Unlike Orb's MVF-M11C Murasame, another transformable MS designed to defend territorial waters and airspace, the Eclipse Gundam was built with the ability to strike enemy bases. While these Mobile Suits share similar model numbers, they were created with distinct design philosophies. Striker Packs In pursuit of high-speed flight in MA (Mobile Armor) Form, the MVF-X08 Eclipse was stripped of excess weaponry, retaining only basic armaments to reduce weight. However, this reduced its adaptability in MS Form during combat. To resolve this, the development team incorporated the Striker Pack system, inspired by the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam from the previous war. This system allowed the Eclipse to equip optional armaments, restoring its combat flexibility through attachable and detachable weapons. One of the specialized Striker Packs developed for the Eclipse is the Raijin Striker. This pack focuses on enhancing the mobile suit's long-range offensive capabilities by equipping it with high-energy weapons and advanced thrusters, optimizing both firepower and mobility. The Raijin Striker improves the Eclipse’s combat performance by providing versatility in long-range and aerial battles. In addition, the Eclipse features a Striker Connect system on its back, making it compatible with various other Striker Packs, like the Raijin Striker, allowing for greater mission adaptability. The Striker Packs, like those of the Strike Gundam, also have built-in batteries that can recharge the Eclipse during combat, extending its operational time. Mirage Colloid Stealth System The Eclipse Gundam was built on the same frame as the Freedom Gundam, incorporating the Mirage Colloid Stealth System. This feature, along with its compatibility with various equipment, enabled it to dominate battlefields with incredible speed.
