Explain to them the story of the inhabitants of that town (known as Antioch) as an example! When the messengers (sent by Jesus) came to them. ﴾14﴿ And when We sent two (messengers) to them, they immediately rejected them. Then We strengthened them with a third (messenger), so they said, “Indeed, We have sent you messengers.” (15) They said, “You are only human beings like us (eating and drinking, and therefore having no superiority over us). The Most Merciful (whom you claim to be compassionate to His servants) has not sent down anything (to burden them), and you are only lying.” (16) Those (messengers) said: “Our Lord knows that we are indeed messengers sent to you specifically. (17) And our duty is only to deliver a clear message (which we have fulfilled).” (18) They said: “Indeed, we have been afflicted with misfortune by your arrival. And if you do not desist, we will surely stone you to death, and surely a painful punishment will befall you from us.” (19) And those (messengers) said: “Your misfortune is with you (your disbelief). Is it because you were preached to (and invited to Islam) that you are afflicted with misfortune? Rather, you are a transgressing people (that is why you are afflicted with drought).” (20) Then a noble man (named Habib-i Neccar) came running from the farthest part of the city (Antioch) and said: “O my people! Follow these messengers who have been sent to you. (21) Follow those who ask no reward from you for their message. Moreover, they are the guided ones. (22) And what is wrong with me that I should not worship Him who created me from nothing? You will all be returned to Him. (So what account will you give?) (23) Would I take other gods besides Him, when He is the Most Merciful? If He intends to harm me, their (supposed) intercession will not avert even the slightest harm from me, and they will never be able to save me! (24) If I associate partners with Him, then I am certainly in manifest error (and deviation). (25) (O Messengers!) Indeed, I have believed in your Lord. So hear me (and bear witness to my words). (26) (Upon hearing this, the polytheist people stoned him to death. Then it was said to him from Us:) "Enter Paradise." He (even after his death, he preached to them) said: “Oh!
