Eternal in 1996: 'The song ended up at 4 in the UK charts' | Interview | TMF

Eternal is a British R&B girl group formed in London in 1992. Originally consisting of sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett, alongside Kéllé Bryan and Louise Redknapp (née Nurding), Eternal quickly rose to prominence as one of the UK's most successful girl groups of the 1990s. Their debut album, "Always & Forever" (1993), became a major success, featuring hits like "Stay," "Just a Step from Heaven," and "Oh Baby I...". Known for their powerful vocals and polished R&B sound influenced by American soul and gospel, the group found widespread international acclaim. After Louise's departure in 1995, Eternal continued as a trio, releasing successful albums such as "Power of a Woman" (1995), with hits like the title track and "I Am Blessed," and "Before the Rain" (1997), featuring the chart-topping single "I Wanna Be the Only One," a duet with gospel singer BeBe Winans. Eternal is celebrated for their vocal harmonies, soulful melodies, and significant impact on the UK’s R&B scene. Despite disbanding in 2000 and experiencing brief reunions, their influence endures, marking them as iconic figures in British pop and R&B history.
