PBSP Through the Years

In his remarks at the United Nations' 48th NGO Conference in 1995, former Chair Andres Soriano III shared the factors that helped PBSP along the way: corporate citizenship is not an option but a responsibility; and the development mandate is so great that not a single sector can bring it about alone. This remains true until today. Our success cannot be measured alone by the number of people whose lives we changed or the communities we empowered — it also reflects in partnerships we nurtured and the approaches we adopted and adapted. PBSP advocated for Collective Impact. We evolved and grew, responding to the needs and concerns of each generation. And we know that we cannot rest on our laurels especially today when long-term scarring in the economy and other facets of daily life is not just a possibility anymore, but part of the lived experiences of peoples and communities everywhere. Drawing from Manuel V Pangilinan's remarks during his first year as Chair, PBSP needs to communicate its successes so that other sectors can become allies and partners in our work. On our 50th anniversary, may our story inspire other sectors and the larger business community to take concrete actions that will foster development and renew hope in all of us.
