This month, Poland's first military radar satellite will be launched into orbit. The Falcon 9 mission launch has been postponed to November 22nd, but one thing is certain: it will be a historic moment. These are our first "eyes" in space, operating 24/7, even at night, through clouds and smoke. How is this possible? We asked the man behind this technology – Rafał Modrzewski, co-founder and CEO of ICEYE: "The satellite sends out a radar wave, which bounces off the Earth and returns to the antenna. This allows us to make observations regardless of weather conditions or the time of day. Whether it's night, clouds, or smoke – we can see everything." In practice, this means the ability to detect hidden equipment, monitor borders, control infrastructure, and even observe the effects of floods or fires—while optical cameras are simply blind. We recorded this conversation at the Polish Army Museum during the opening of the "Vigilance from Orbit" exhibition, where a model of the ICEYE satellite—the very type that will soon be launched into orbit—was unveiled for the first time.
