In this video, you'll learn 5 tips for successfully growing Epidendrum orchids. With these tips, your Epidendrum will bloom year-round and have a compact, beautiful plant. The Epidendrum is a terrestrial, hardy, and easy-to-grow orchid. It loves sun and needs at least four hours of sunlight per day to bloom year-round and become a more compact plant. It will also bloom if grown in partial shade, but it will produce fewer flowers and the plant will be elongated and leggy. For those who grow Epidendrum in pots like me, opt for small pots. It's an orchid that likes smaller pots and doesn't spread as much as a Cattleya orchid, for example. Choose a well-draining substrate rich in organic matter. Although Epidendrum is terrestrial, it's not advisable to plant it in pure soil. Water the Epidendrum moderately; it's an orchid that doesn't tolerate waterlogging in the substrate. When it remains wet for too long, it's common for its roots to rot and its leaves to become spotted. Water only when the substrate is dry and adapt the watering to your cultivation needs. Properly fertilize your Epidendrum. It's an orchid that isn't very demanding in terms of fertilization, but it's a living organism and needs nutrients. It tolerates chemical or organic fertilizers well; choose your preference and always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
