Esther Rose, "How Many Times," // GemsOnVHS™
A second installment from our day in New Orleans with Esther Rose, at the gorgeous Marigny Opera House. The place reverberates with character and memories, having been built way back in 1853. There really isn't a more beautiful space this side of the bayou to hear music ringing off the vaulted ceilings and vintage patterned-floors. The cool fall air drifted through the windows and carried every note of Esther's beautiful song of heart-break and reluctant self-reflection. As often is the case, she put together an all-star band of hitmakers and savants like Lyle Werner (my personal banjo teacher!) on fiddle, Max (of Max and the Martians fame) on guitar, Howe on the brushes. It was a pleasure to record, and the pizza Esther supplied afterward did indeed hit the spot. You can order Esther's newest record here: https://estherrosemusic.bandcamp.com/ The players in this video are, Lyle Werner, fiddle Howe Pearson, drums Max Bien Kahn, electric guitar Adam Keil, audio This release was made possible through the support of our executive producers, Amy Ennis, Brady Jones, Eric Valente, Irvin Maddox, Josh Collins, Kenneth Clark, Kenny Schmidt, Mark Riley, VJ Arizpe, and Richard Harmon.
