Peter Gabriel: "Washing of the Water" (Solo Piano)

Playing around in iTunes today, I was reminded of what a great song Peter Gabriel's "Washing of the Water" is. I decided to work up a quick, half-assed version of it on piano. Of course, I highly recommend Peter's rendition of it; it's gorgeous. For those interested in playing the song: Treating the song in 2/4 with a tempo of about 62, the chords for the main verse (after the intro, which is a vamp on C) are essentially: Verse: ||: C \ | Dm7 G/B | C \ | \ \ | F \ | \ \ | C \ | \ \ |(1.) C \ | G/B \ | Am7 \ | C/G \ | F \ | \ \ | C \ | \ \ :|| (2.) C G/B | Am7 G | F \ | C \ | C Fmaj7 | D/F# \ | C/G G7 | C \ | C Fmaj7 | D/F# \ | C/G G7 | C \ | \ \ || (D.C.), where "|" indicates a measure break and "\" indicates a held or vamped chord. Slashes in the other direction indicate chords played in inversions. The numerals mark the repeat number. The "D.C." at the end is an indication to return to the top. The bridge moves into A minor and takes advantage of the melodic minor in the bass notes. That is: "Letting go ..." ||: Am \ | C/G \ | Fmaj7 \ | D/F# E7/G# :|| For the last part, some of the chord structure from the verse is used again: "River, oh river ..." ||:C Fmaj7 | D/F# \ | G7 \ | C \ :||
