Smallholding Life - Long Days of Late Spring
Welcome back to another week on our smallholding. This week we make the most of a spell of glorious weather, tackling long-overdue jobs around the smallholding before the heat becomes too much. Steven begins clearing a neglected vegetable bed ready for a new greenhouse we're due to acquire, while I work through animal chores, greenhouse jobs, planting, watering and keeping everyone hydrated during some of the hottest days we've seen this year. We also: 🌱 Harvest asparagus from the garden 🐖 Feed the pigs fresh produce from the veg plot 🦆 Clean out the ducks and collect eggs before the magpies get them 🐔 Create a new outdoor area for our growing meat birds 🌿 Plant courgettes, squash and more summer crops 🏡 Continue improving the shed and garden spaces 🐦 Put up new bird boxes inspired by our resident robins ❄️ Reveal Steven's latest project – a homemade cold plunge As always, there are far more jobs than hours in the day, but that's part of the joy (and occasional madness) of smallholding life. Thanks for joining us and we hope you enjoy spending the week with us. #Smallholding #CountryLife #GrowingFood #HomesteadingUK #VegetableGarden #SelfSufficiency #SmallholdingLife #KeepingPigs #BackyardChickens #SimpleLiving
