What was supposed to be a wonderful family trip quickly turned into one of the most difficult experiences of our lives. During our visit to Abha, Saudi Arabia, both of my sons suddenly became very sick. Ghanem was diagnosed with pneumonia and had to be admitted to the hospital. Soon after, my youngest son Hamdan, who has Type 1 Diabetes, also became seriously ill and required urgent medical attention. For five emotional days, our family stayed at Abha Maternity and Children Hospital while both boys received treatment. As parents, being far away from home and watching our children suffer was heartbreaking. In this video, I share our full journey, the incredible care we received from the doctors and nurses, and how we eventually made the 1,410 km drive back home to Bahrain. A special thank you to Dr. Zayed, Dr. Abdulrahman, in Emergence department and all the medical staff at Abha Maternity and Children Hospital for their professionalism, kindness, and support during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Alhamdulillah, both children recovered and we safely returned home.
