The High Court has ruled that the permission of the first wife is not required for a second marriage. The court said that from now on, the matter of second marriage will be settled only with the permission of the Arbitration Council or the Arbitration Council. As a result of this ruling, it has been declared that it is not mandatory for Muslim men to take the permission of the first wife for their second marriage. However, a provision has been made for a one-year imprisonment or a fine of 10 thousand taka for a second marriage without the permission of the Arbitration Council ¹ ² ³.
