Services on this Metrolink line to from Altrincham to Bury are part of the Yellow and Purple coloured Metrolnk lines which operate all day linking these destinations with central Manchester and Piccadilly. This green service only operates at selected times of the day when services are expected to be busier with direct Altrincham to Bury journeys outside of these times requiring a change of tram at Piccadilly Gardens. In the full timetable services on the Green line (Altrincham to Bury) operate every 12 minutes with the Purple line (Altrincham to Piccadilly) operating every 12 minutes along with the Yellow line (Piccadilly to Bury) forming a 6 minute service on the core sections of this route between St peters Square and Altrincham and between Market Street and Bury. Other Metrolink routes operate along parts of this route for shorter sections and in the city centre where a much more frequent tram service is provided. Note that the Green line only operates at certain times of the day and does not operate for the full operating times of Metrolink. Services on this route are formed of double and single trams. Alternative rail services from Altrincham and Navigation road are possible with Northern to Piccadilly via Stockport. This Metrolink route largely uses disused railway lines with these sections making up the majority of the route (Bury to Victoria and Deansgate to Altrincham) note that although this route operate over most of the old rail alignment the tram diverts to the Manchester city centre streets from Deansgate to Victoria where separate Metrolink and National Rail platforms are provided. The section through Manchester city centre is on Street running. All Bury and Altrincham services use the first city crossing with Rochdale to East Didsbury (Pink line) services using the second city crossing via Exchange Square. Parts of this route share track with other Metrolink routes with all other Metrolink routes at least partly sharing some track even if it is just through 1 tram stop/station. The main interchange points for this line are at Victoria (Yellow, Pink, Brown and Navy) and Cornbrook (Pink, Brown, Red, Purple, Navy, Blue and Orange). There are direct National Rail interchanges on this route at Victoria, Deansgate Castlefield, Navigation Road and Altrincham.
