Charles Hinton could be considered one of these figures, a man whose life work never quite achieved greatness, but whose efforts created a wake that would influence many of society's greats. From H. P. Lovecraft to Christopher Nolan, Hinton's impact on the world can still be felt generations later! Charles Hinton is most famous for his work popularizing the fourth dimension, however while today most physicists see the 4D axis as time, Hinton saw it as another dimension of space. His preferred method of dissemination were science fiction novels that he called, "scientific romances," a bold medium considering the genre was just in its infancy. While Hinton's life was cut short, his legacy lived on through his family, many of whom achieved great things in their lives including winning the Nobel Prize!
