Abeilles sans frontières Gilles GROSMOND Comment réduire la mortalité hivernale des abeilles

Bees Without Borders Conference: Gilles Grosmond, DVM: How to Reduce Winter Bee Mortality Through Pathogen Carrier Assessment? Description: Bee health management is most often limited to observing symptoms and post-mortem diagnosis. However, current RT-PCR techniques allow us to identify and quantify the presence of pathogens in seemingly healthy bees. This information leads to a reliable prognosis regarding the risk of winter colony mortality. Administration according to very rigorous protocols, based on analyses performed on bees, allows us to radically reduce colony losses. Results from the field are proving very promising and in line with our expectations. Bio: Thirty years of private veterinary practice, treating all animal species, followed by twenty years of training livestock farmers, technicians, and veterinarians, have allowed me to implement an alternative approach to care using homeopathy, phytotherapy, and aromatherapy. These choices have led me to continuous innovation in both animal examination and strategies for ensuring their recovery. These new methods have been published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at international conferences, and compiled into a book, "Animal Health and Alternative Solutions." Furthermore, I have practiced beekeeping since 1977, and my work has resulted in publications at Apimondia 2009 and two Gold Summit awards, in 2010 (Management of Varroa destructor populations through olfactory confusion) and in 2023 (Carrying pathogens and managing winter mortality in honeybees). My entire approach is inspired by the fundamental principles of biological biology and the methods of working collaboratively with sick animals to maintain or restore stable states of good health.
