Loess Hills - Backpacking Iowa - Preparation Canyon / Mondamin Unit

The first weeks of May Iowa Re opened its state parks/ forests from Covid-19 Closures. Eager I head out to the western side of Iowa to hike the Loess Hills. Perfect blue skies meet rolling dunes covered in beautiful prairie grasses. Watch as i hold down the night at Preparation Canyon State park and head out into Preparation Canyon State forest the next day where i set up camp under some pines. Day 3 i head to the Mondamin Unit and climb steep hills and am met with vertical dirt facings. Loess hills is a beautiful area and a treasure for Iowa.
