This association is so strong that the Goddess is often depicted holding the instrument. Garikapati notes that the Western counterpart to this constellation is called 'Lyre' by the Greeks, which is the origin of the word "lyric". The Root of Existence (Omkara): The discourse links the concept of Moolam to the ultimate root sound, Omkara. The three syllables of Om (A, U, M) symbolize Srushti, Sthiti, and Layam (Creation, Maintenance, and Dissolution), representing the entire cycle of existence through the opening, continuing, and closing of the mouth.
