I received a request to replace a clogged kitchen mixer tap, and I thought it would be possible, so I agreed, but I struggled with a stuck base and tap body, and a screw that wouldn't turn. It took about six hours of struggle... I refused to give up until the very end, and was determined to remove it and fit a new tap. The unexpected started when I couldn't face the screws on the base. Just when I thought I could disassemble the tap body and pull it out, the tap body was stuck and wouldn't budge. So I decided to just remove the base while leaving the tap attached. I cut off part of the tap body with a jigsaw to make space to turn the screws on the base. However, the screws became stuck and would only turn partway. Trying any further would strip the screw heads. So I decided it would be quicker to just cut off the screw heads, so I used a hacksaw, even though it was a lot of physical work. When I finally managed to remove it, I couldn't help but shout, "Yes!" I think that's one of the joys of DIY. The best part of DIY is doing it yourself. I'll share the fun of ingenuity and the excitement of creating something even as an amateur, introducing methods that even first-timers can do. If you're replacing a mixer faucet that's been in use for over 10 years, it's best to thoroughly research the structure and consider the risk of it sticking. You'll be thrilled when it works!
