Conmemoraciones - Rosario Castellanos, una mujer excepcional (25/05/2022)

Rosario Castellanos was not only a distinguished poet, novelist, playwright, essayist, columnist, teacher, and diplomat, but also an outspoken pioneer of feminism in Mexico, at a time when the subject received little attention. Considered one of the most important Mexican writers of the 20th century, she denounced the marginalization of women and Indigenous people, and masterfully portrayed these conflicts in powerful texts that have been translated into many languages. Rosario Castellanos died young, at the age of 49, but her critical and penetrating gaze, both objective and ironic, her ideas and works, such as Balún Canán, Oficio de tinieblas, Ciudad real, Poesía no eres tú, Mujer que sabe latín, Álbum de familia, Los convidados de agosto, and El eterno femenino, among others, remain remarkable and relevant, 48 years after her death.
