The round trip runs about 8.6 miles with 2,900 feet of elevation gain, starting from the Wheeler Peak Campground trailhead at over 10,000 feet. The altitude hits hard, so give yourself time to acclimate before pushing for the summit. Stop at the visitor center in Baker for water, maps, and current trail conditions. The trail is typically snow-free from late June through September, but afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer. If you're not used to high altitude, expect slower pacing and more breaks than usual. 00:00 Getting There 01:00 Hike Details 01:43 Directions 05:04 Altitude Considerations 06:46 Wheeler Peak Summit --- Disclaimer: Some of these links are affiliate links where I'll earn a small commission if you make a purchase at no additional cost to you.
