Long Khot was an outpost of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam before 1975 in the Dong Thap Muoi area. This was the garrison of the local military force (about 200 people) in Tuyen Binh district, old Kien Tuong province (now Long An province). The base was built on the bank of the Long Khot river, only a few kilometers from the Vietnam - Cam Phu Chia border. Next to Long Khot station is the district building and the central market, a few rows of houses of the surrounding people on a small, deserted land in the border area. Because of its strategic location on the border, Long Khot station has suffered many attacks by the Liberation Army, the most fierce of which were the two attacks in June 1972 and April 1974.
