⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ London Underground Train in the Channel Islands - Exploring the Alderney Railway

The Alderney Railway on Alderney is the only railway in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, and the only working railway in the Channel Islands. The Alderney Railway opened in 1847 and runs for about 2 miles (3.2 km), mostly following a coastal route, from Braye Road to Mannez Quarry and Lighthouse. Today, the railway is run by volunteers and usually operates during summer weekends and bank holidays. Interestingly, the line is operated with a pair of ex-London Undeground 1959 stock cars. The island of Alderney is particularly difficult to access from the United States, requiring several stopover flights. We take great pleasure in being able to show you such an interesting operation.
