Saint Luke and Saint Paul state that Christ, after the crucifixion, appeared first among the apostles to Simon Peter (Saint Peter). Yet, while they attest to his existence, no text in the New Testament recounts this vision. In this video, I analyze the Acts of Peter and the Twelve Apostles, an apocryphal text from the Nag Hammadi library, demonstrating, to the best of my ability, that this text is the account of this first appearance of Christ to Saint Peter, as described by Saint Luke and Saint Paul. I interpret this text using the hermeneutical key of the imaginal. This is the second radical step I take here. It's like a second discovery, because it's the first time this text has been analyzed from this perspective. I will outline what the imaginal is, based on the definitions of Henry Corbin, the scholar who coined this concept. I haven't had time to read the entire text in one go, without my interpretations.
