Trends in Environmental Analysis

Over the last century, human activity has been a major cause of rapid environmental change, and determining the impact on both the natural and anthropogenic environment requires the techniques of several cognate environmental disciplines. Through an integrated systems approach, environmental science combines physical, chemical, and biological science techniques to provide a quantitative approach to the study of environmental systems. Understanding and quantifying recent environmental degradation, including surface and subsurface water quality, air and soil pollution, waste disposal, climate change, and impacts of natural and industrial disasters is of paramount importance. The editors of Lab Manager have assembled a group of industry experts to provide an interactive discussion of the most current instruments, techniques, and research in the field of environmental science.
