Gathering Ingleborough Common & Dipping sheep

A video filmed for The Foundation for Common land, the Farmer network & Dales Vets on their latest project with farmers, working together to identify and prevent the spread of sheep scab on common land. Focusing on practical, farmer-led solutions to sheep health issues, The Yorkshire Dales Sheep Health Project was a collaboration between local vets, The Farmer Network and the Foundation for Common Land, and was funded through the "Our Upland Commons" project. A key part of the work was to identify and help control the commonly occurring parasite, sheep scab, which causes huge economic losses to the sheep industry every year. Owing to shared grazing, scab can be particularly difficult to control on common land and the project enabled discussion on the benefits of shared solutions.
