In this episode, we are showing you something a little different at Chavenage — our contemporary holiday let hidden away on the estate. When most people think of Chavenage, they think of old stone, history, Elizabethan architecture and buildings that have stood here for centuries. But this building tells a very different story. Around six years ago, we replaced an old post-war prefab, once used as the original butler’s house, with a modern timber-clad holiday let designed to work for the future of the estate. We take you behind the scenes of how this building came to be, why we chose such a contemporary design, how it fits into the landscape of a historic Cotswold estate, and why projects like this are so important for keeping places like Chavenage going. We also walk through the design, the architecture, the story of what stood here before, and how this space now works as a short-term holiday let and countryside escape. Their work helped turn the site of an old post-war prefab into a contemporary building that still feels connected to the estate and its history.
