Operation Ostfront is underway. On December 26, 1943, Scharnhorst sorties into the Arctic with orders to intercept Convoy JW55B. Instead of finding a column of merchant ships, lookouts begin reporting smoke on the horizon. As more contacts appear, it becomes clear that something is very wrong. In Part 1 of Hunt for JW55B, we take command of Scharnhorst in Battleship Command and recreate an alternate version of the events leading up to the Battle of North Cape. What begins as a convoy hunt quickly turns into a dangerous encounter with a powerful Royal Navy hunter group modeled after the force that historically sank Scharnhorst.
