1913 Johannes Mertens (Schindler) elevator in Hamburg Eppendorf, Germany

Yet another beautiful vintage treasure! Unlike most other elevators, it is not possible to see this one through the window of the building entrance door. This elevator has all the shaft doors locked off. That was common here back in the early 20th century. Notice even the door lock has the manufacturer name of the elevator as a typeface in the metal plate. Very sophisticated and elegant design. In diesem Fall kann man den Aufzug nicht von außen durch die Türe sehen... Wie üblich bei Deutschen Aufzügen aus der Zeit des Kaiserreiches und auch noch später, hat auch dieser die Schachttüren auf allen Etagen gesperrt. Man beachte die Metallblenden, in denen der Herstellername eingegossen wurde. Was für eine erhabene Gestaltung!
