6. NEFS HAKKINDA (Musâhabe 6 Kitabı) - Mahmud Sami Ramazanoğlu (K.s.)

In the Hadith-i qudsi, Allah says Ta'ala: "Be devoted to your soul, for that soul has been planted for enmity to me.'' In the Hadith-i Sharif, our Prophet also: "Your soul is your mount. Treat him with rifk!" he commands. Although these two hadiths seem to be in agreement with each other in terms of their apparent meaning, it is seen that they are not in agreement when the words are paid attention to. The commandment "adavet" in the Hadith al-qudsi is due to the adavet of the soul to Almighty Allah. The word "your soul is your mount" in the Hadith-i sharif is a sign that whenever the soul is obedient, then it is necessary to treat it with rifk. When the soul reaches the degree of mutmeinne, it becomes muti, and then it is necessary to feed the soul. It is the soul that moves the body, and it is vapor-i zulmani. In this respect, this hadith-i sharif is like a miracle. Because it is also the steam that drives the steamers and the current. And it is the soul, which is the wrong-doing spirit, that guides man. Just as the steam of the steamer does not walk when it runs out, if the soul does not get its food, it will not walk because it cannot come to the issue of steam-i zulmani, which will come from fire and water. In this respect, it is necessary to treat the obedient soul with rifk and give it food. As a matter of fact, the verse is in Galilee; "Eat of the good things we have provided for you." (al-A'raf 160.) "Say, Who has forbidden the adornment and the beautiful sustenance that Allah has created for His servants." (al-A'raf 32.) is commanded. If the soul is not muti, then it must be adavet and kill him. If a person continues to treat his enemy, his enemy also loves him. However, when the soul treats itself with rifk before there is no discipline, it continues its hostility. Because the soul is emmare bi's-su. that is, evil is commanded. Therefore, Allah is worshipped until the soul becomes muti, and when it becomes muti, it is treated with rifk. This is also an act with a license. Hadith al-sharif: It is said, "The efdalah of my Ummah are those who act with the license-i shariyya".
