Best Enduro Forks 2021 | Seb’s 8-Part MTB Fork MEGA Test

Ever wondered what the best mountain bike suspension forks for enduro & trail riding are? Well, wonder no more, as Technical Writer Seb Stott has tested eight of the latest and greatest 170mm enduro forks to see which performs best in 2021. The forks on test are: → RS Lyrkik Ultimate 08:52 → Fox 38 Factory Grip2 14:37 → Intend Ebonite 03:20 → Manitou Mezzer Pro 02:19 → SR Suntour Durulux 36 EQ R2C2 05:03 → MZ Z1 coil 07:05 → RS Zeb Ultimate 10:58 → Fox 36 Factory Grip2 12:46 Most bikes come with decent enough suspension forks these days, so if you're looking to upgrade then chances are you're looking for the best of the best! Regardless, you’ll want something that provides the least feedback from that chatter and chunder beneath you, allowing your body to survive the toughest tracks. You’ll want the fork to sit smoothly into its travel to keep your front wheel stuck to the ground, while offering enough support later in the travel to keep the bike from pitching and diving too easily. You might also want enough stiffness to provide accurate and predictable steering, without being so stout as to cause excessive feedback through the bars. You’ll also need enough adjustability to fine-tune the fork to your needs, but not so much that it’s a nightmare to setup. And finally you probably want it to be as light as possible too, without costing the earth! We don't ask for much, right? To keep test conditions controlled, Seb has tested all eight forks on the same bike, while using identical tyre pressures and bike setup. He then set them up starting from the recommended factory settings and testing how much travel he was able to produce by bouncing on them as hard as he could on flat ground. Seb finds this gives a really consistent indication of how firm the fork is. With this baseline he then tweaked the air pressure, compression and rebound to get the absolute best setup from each fork, before doing a bunch of back-to-back tests on the same challenging test tracks.
