The NAECO Channel presents the city of Centralina in the Triângulo Mineiro region, filmed on the streets, roads and access highways, panoramic drone flight, narrated, with historical details, map illustrating geographic references, population and economic resources. Access to the city of Centralina is via the BR 153 highway between the cities of Canápolis and Araporã and is 663 km from the capital Belo Horizonte. The dirt road built by engineer Fernando Alves Vilela to connect Uberlândia to the state of Goiás in 1917, cut through the region that is now the city of Centralina, where Nicolau Antônio arrived, aged 17, a Sírio, but with his family settled in Monte Alegre de Minas, to buy a farm in 1930 on the banks of the highway, falling in love with the fertility of the land, the climate, the abundance of water from the Piedade River and the streams that bathed the farm. On the edge of Nicolau's farm, near the highway, there was a small shop owned by Mr. Alfredo José Faria, who sold salt, sugar and other varieties to serve travelers who passed by the road and farms in the region known as Lagoa Seca. Nicolau set aside part of his farm, near the shop, to donate land to families who were interested in settling and working as sharecroppers on his land, and thus the village of Vendinha began to emerge. Another farmer in the region, José dos Santos, joined Nicolau's project by offering houses in the village of Vendinha and half-time work on his property. The village slowly developed under the name Lagoa Seca, and it was José dos Santos who took the initiative to build a school, hiring teachers from Monte Alegre de Minas, to teach children and adults in the village to read and write. The name Lagoa Seca is due to the fact that three lakes in the region filled up during the rainy season and dried up in the winter. The inhabitants of the growing town were bothered by the names given to the town as Vendinha or Lagoa Seca and reached a consensus on the name Centralina in 1935. The District of Centralina was created in 1948 under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Canápolis, from which it was separated on December 12, 1953, to become a municipality under the name of Centralina and entitled “Princess of the Triangle”. Today, March 2025, the municipality of Centralina has a population of approximately 10,300 inhabitants, with a territorial domain of 321.985 km², at an altitude of 531 m, and is bathed by streams and tributaries of the Piedade River that belong to the Paranaíba River basin. The municipalities that border the municipality of Centralina are: Araporã, Monte Alegre de Minas, Canápolis and the state of Goiás. The basis of the economy of the municipality of Centralina is agriculture and livestock farming and the provision of services. In livestock farming, the municipality of Centralina produces beef and milk from cattle and on farms, chickens for slaughter and eggs. In agriculture, sugar cane, cotton, soybeans, corn, pineapple, beans, rice and cassava are harvested, among other products. The quality and productivity achieved in agriculture is due to high-tech management and equipment and respect for Environmental Sustainability. The municipality's ecological tourism is very diverse and is very popular with wildlife and flora watchers, fishermen and extreme sports enthusiasts, trails and water sports with incredible scenery in its rivers, waterfalls, lakes and lagoons, including the dry ones, which in the summer are guaranteed fun for swimmers.
