I almost died in the in the mediterranean Sea Omar Marong’s Backway story would inspire you

In 2014, Omar Marong, a young Gambian, embarked on a perilous journey across the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea to reach Italy. Like many migrants, he faced the immense risks and uncertainties that accompany such a journey, driven by a desire for a better life and the hope of pursuing an education. Since then, Omar has become an inspiring example of perseverance and success, overcoming language barriers and cultural differences to achieve his dreams and give back to his community. Upon his arrival in Italy, Omar was determined to continue his education, a goal that would require dedication and resilience. Recognizing the importance of integration, he began by studying Italian to fully engage with his new surroundings. Step by step, he navigated the educational system, mastering the language and enrolling at the University of Naples, where he pursued a degree in International Relations. In 2020, Omar graduated, marking a significant milestone in his academic journey. However, his ambitions didn’t stop there; he enrolled in a master’s program in International Relations and Diplomacy, which he is set to complete in December of this year. Omar’s story isn’t just about personal achievement; he has become a key figure in the migrant community, known for his advocacy and support of others facing similar struggles. His work has made him one of the most prominent activists within the migrant community in Italy. Driven by a desire to provide accessible information and support, Omar co-founded What's on Italy, a social media page dedicated to helping migrants and refugees in Italy and Germany. This platform offers essential updates, resources, and guidance, empowering newcomers to navigate the complexities of life in Europe. Omar’s journey from the Sahara to a master’s degree in Italy exemplifies the resilience and potential of migrants who, despite immense challenges, contribute significantly to their adopted countries. His activism and success story highlight the power of determination, education, and community support, making him an inspiration to others and a beacon of hope for those facing similar journeys.
