At 17, Daniel was abandoned by his family after coming out as a gay man. First, he was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital because of his sexual orientation, and when he left, he found his house empty; only the furniture from his room remained, along with a letter written by his parents. For 10 years, he didn't know where his family lived. 10 years trying to survive alone, without anyone's support, which made Daniel understand that blood ties don't necessarily have to do with affection. But the path to understanding that he wasn't to blame for the abandonment wasn't easy. Daniel faced deep depression and many ups and downs throughout his life, which, along with the abandonment episode, left deep scars that he had to learn to deal with. Currently, abroad, with a doctorate in hand, Daniel no longer has contact with his blood family, even because he has already built his own. The one that accepts him.
