The divine nakashi jewellery: Karnataka Edition: Jewels of India
Nakashi jewellery uses repousse work deftly and delicately. Creating jewels for the temple and the Gods is a calling. Listen to jewellers talk about how their pull off this delicate balance. Jewels of India was founded and anchored by journalist, Shoba Narayan. It celebrates and showcases the jewellery traditions of India. The project is supported by Tanishq: a TATA company. We are grateful for their support. These films showcase and highlight the craft and the craftspeople who toil away in anonymity to create the beautiful jewels that we wear. In India, karigars or acharis (goldsmiths) often work with their intuition, imagination and knowledge to craft amazing pieces of jewellery for pretty much every occasion or every part of the body. Jewels of India is a humble attempt to give these craftspeople some recognition.
