Freedom of Aberdeenshire granted to The Royal Regiment of Scotland in ceremony at Peterhead May 2024

The Royal Regiment of Scotland were granted the Freedom of Aberdeenshire at a ceremony in Peterhead on Saturday 11th May 2024. Members of the Regiment assembled outside Buchan House in the centre of Peterhead, where the official Freedom was bestowed on the regiment by the Provost of Aberdeenshire, Cllr Judy Whyte, and received on behalf of the Regiment by Major General Robin Lindsay. Those present included 4 SCOTS Pipes and Drums, the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, regimental troops, Colour Party and the regimental pony mascot, Corporal Cruachan IV. After the ceremony the parade marched off, led by 4 SCOTS Pipes and Drums. Corporal Cruachan IV, is a Shetland pony and took up his role as Regimental mascot in October 2012, and is cared for by Pony Major Cpl Stewart. The Royal Regiment of Scotland is the senior and only Scottish line infantry regiment of the British Army Infantry.
