The world's first training facility has been completed in Murakami City, the hometown of Beijing Olympic snowboarder Ayumu Hirano. Hirano, who attended the ceremony, showed off his "big tricks." The Murakami Snow Research & Training Center, unveiled on the 14th, is the world's first outdoor training facility where you can practice half-pipe airs even without snow. Murakami native and Beijing Olympic gold medalist Ayumu Hirano and his younger brother, Kaishiki, attended the opening event. Their father, Hidenori Hirano, who serves as the facility's director, shared his thoughts on the facility. ■Hirano Hidenori "We want to create a stable facility that isn't affected by wind and other factors. We believe that this will attract people from all over the world to Murakami, so we want to build it with that in mind." Ayumu and Kaishiki performed tricks at the new training facility, much to the amusement of the children in attendance. ■Participating Child "I'm really looking forward to seeing some amazing spins and other tricks." First up, Ayumu showed us some tricks. What is Ayumu's current dream after reaching the pinnacle of his Olympic career? ■Ayumu Hirano "Now that I've achieved my dream of winning a gold medal, I have a strong desire to go beyond that. That's the Olympics in Italy, a year and a half away, and I want to aim for a second consecutive victory. To put it simply, I'm currently focused on winning two consecutive championships." He says the training facility he helped create will play a major role in achieving his new dream of winning two consecutive Olympic gold medals. ■ Hirano Ayumu "It feels like a dream that a new facility has opened in my hometown. Creating something unique is unprecedented, and while it was challenging in many ways, I'm happy that it's finally come to fruition.
