AI171 Interim Statement

Today’s episode is an update on the Air India Flight 171 crash at Ahmedabad Airport on 12th June 2025. The AAIB released a Preliminary Report one month after the crash. The report states there were 260 fatalities, 241 on board and 19 on the ground and there were 67 injuries. The aircraft was destroyed, but remarkably one passenger survived. On 17th September 2025, the Safety Matters Foundation petitioned the Supreme Court of India with a 460 page document. The Court has issued notices to the government and other authorities and sought their responses. The Wall Street Journal published an article on 11th July 2025 preempting the Preliminary Report: “Pilots Are Focus of Probe Into India Crash.” On Daily Airline News together with Geoffrey Thomas we have published 120 episodes on the Air India crash. On Independent Aircraft Investigations I have examined the Evidence vs the Claims regarding the crash and specifically the cause and timing of the RAT Deployment - Spurious, Human or System. First we were promised a Final Report, then we were promised an Interim Report, … We ended up with barely two pages of an Interim Statement … Whatever happened to the promised Report?
