My this video is about Trichomes. In this video I have tried to explain the different types, function and importance of trichomes. From this lecture you can easily collect material for your Plant anatomy paper. Trichomes Hair like structure or appendages or out growths that were originated from the epidermis of the plants. The word trichome is originated from the Greek Word which mean Hair. Trichomes may be Unicellular, Multicellular or branched or they may be of stellate type or star shaped. Trichome may have glandular tips or they may be without glandular tips. Trichome are of different types 1) Hair Like 2) Papilla like 3) Glandular 4) Scale Like Glandular like stomata are present in tomato plant where they help to protect the plant from the attack of insects. In Sun-dew Plant the stomata secret certain kinds of secretion that help to capture the insects and help in their digestions. Scale like trichomes are present in Olive tree. Trichomes also shade the leaves of those plants that are native to hot climates; here in these plants they help to lower the rate of evaporation and maintain the moisture content in plants. They also give certain kind of fragrance and taste to plants due to the presence of certain kind of secondary compounds present in it. for example in mint plant. In Tradescantia flower 10 to 30 groups of long trichomes are present in the trichomes that are connected end to end.
