Highlights of the Normandy Battlefield Tour, July 2019. I only had my Mobile phone with me, battery kept running out, so I missed a few events. A fantastic week with fantastic members of the Regiments. Video and Editing by: Richie 42 former 1RRW Message from: Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Chris Kilmister NORMANDY BATTLEFIELD TOUR Please pass on this message to all those who attended the battlefield tour last week: All those of us who were lucky enough to have been in Normandy last week for the Comrades’ Battlefield Tour has had a superb experience. Not only did Captain Des Williams organise the transport, ferries, hotel and food; he also ensured we had exceptional weather! Our tour guides, Colonel Peter Knox and Major Tim Kilvert-Jones, brought the battles to life with their gripping narrations. We were greatly privileged to have had Bruce Coombs, a veteran of the Normandy Campaign, and then the fighting in Holland and Germany (1944-1945), with us throughout. At 95 he put some of us to shame with his vigour and fitness. The real stars of the tour were the many Branch Standard Bearers. Their bearing, turnout and drill on parade was simply outstanding and made our various wreath laying ceremonies quite exceptional. Thank you all for being such great ambassadors for the Regiment.
