Taking my Orbea Wild eMTB to one of the most iconic peaks in the Lake District — Helvellyn — was always going to be a challenge, but this ride pushed everything to the limit. Starting from the valley floor, I climbed through classic Lakeland terrain: steep gravel tracks, loose rock sections, and relentless gradients that really put the motor and battery management to the test. The Orbea Wild handled it all — from technical climbs to exposed ridge riding — proving exactly why it’s built for big mountain days. As the route opened up, the views just kept getting better. Riding toward Helvellyn, with the dramatic ridgelines and sheer drops around Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, is something every rider should experience at least once. It’s not just about the climb — the atmosphere up there is unreal. The descent? Fast, rough, and seriously fun. Rocky switchbacks, natural drops, and long flowing sections back down into the valley made this one of the most rewarding rides I’ve done in the Lake District.
