This is the story of Namtan, a 6-year-old girl named Wasana Sawasnok from Nakhon Ratchasima province, and her life that has made her mature beyond her years… 🥹💖 Super10 was contacted by Ms. Suriyamas, a kindergarten 3 teacher at Nong Bua Ri School. She reported a child facing hardship, frequently missing school, sometimes for up to 7 days, and sent the information to the program. Namtan often misses school because she has to care for her mother, who has been suffering from an autoimmune disease for the past 3 years. Her mother used to work as a caddie and was the family's breadwinner, but when she fell ill, her grandparents, both in their 50s, had to take over. The grandparents work odd jobs, mostly in construction, earning 200-300 baht a day. On days with no work, they collect and sell garbage to earn money for Namtan's snacks, or if there's no food, they gather water spinach to cook. 🥦 Namtan has cared for her mother since the first day she learned she was ill… That 3-year-old girl has grown into a lovely, obedient child who helps with housework, bathes, feeds, and administers her mother's medicine every day. She chose not to go to school because she had to take care of her mother on the days her grandparents went to work. Her mother's illness requires constant, close care. Taking her mother to the doctor costs 1,500 baht each time. If her condition worsens, she has to go to the doctor at least 20 times. This often means they have to skip meals. Some days, when Namtan comes home hungry after playing with friends, her grandmother has nothing to give her. That breaks her grandmother's heart. 🥹🫶🏻 Today, Namtan came to the Super10 stage, tearfully asking for help with her dream: "Funds to take her mother to the doctor." She will showcase the skills she's learned over the past six years, including catching crabs, sorting garbage, harvesting water spinach, and learning English.
