The Easiest Way to Make Compost WITHOUT a Compost Bin | Cover Crop Crimping Part 1

Making compost doesn't always require a compost bin. In this video I show how I create compost directly on the garden bed using a diverse cover crop mixture, a homemade crimper, and garden fleece. Instead of collecting organic waste and waiting months for traditional compost, I let plants do the work. Peas, buckwheat, oats, barley and flax grow together, pulling nutrients from different soil layers and producing a huge amount of organic matter. Once the cover crop is established, I crimp it down with a simple homemade roller made from a wooden board and rope. Finally, I cover everything with black garden fleece to speed up decomposition and suppress weeds. This method is inspired by permaculture, regenerative agriculture and no-dig gardening. It helps improve soil structure, increase organic matter, feed soil microorganisms and prepare fertile beds for future crops.
