It's done. Our first TRANSATLANTIC! We crossed the Atlantic Ocean on the sailboat "Mindelo" in 11 and a half days. Eleven and a half days, on a Ketch type sailboat (2 masts of different sizes) of 13 meters long to travel 1330 nautical miles (almost 2500 kilometers!). Before these last months at sea, we had never set foot on a sailing boat. This incredible experience allowed us to learn a broad base of the essential rudiments of coastal and offshore navigation. All this, while traveling and discovering successively : The Canary Islands for 47 days (La Graciosa, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro) Cape Verde during 75 days (Sal, Sao Vicente, Santo Antao, Sao Nicolau, Boa Vista, Maio and Santiago). The Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha. But also and above all to sail for more than 26.5 days (635 hours) and to cover a total of 3197 nautical miles, that is to say almost 6000 kilometers! This incredible experience showed us once again that "when you want, you can" and that in life everything is possible if you believe in it and if you are motivated! Before embarking on this initiatory sailing trip, many people warned us about the many dangers that awaited us as novices. It was the same when we decided, at 15 years old, to make our first solo trip and then, at 20 years old, to go on a one year trip around the world. Some advice is, of course, good to take and it is important to listen to the warnings and recommendations of others, but ultimately, the answer lies within ourselves. We are the only ones who know our limits and especially our capacities. Sometimes, in life, we have to take some risks in order to "realize" ourselves. So many opportunities are available to us and it is good to seize them without too much restraint in order to live our dreams.
