More than 150 years later, another three-year-old, Casey Hathaway, vanished into the woods of Craven County, North Carolina. After surviving freezing temperatures, heavy rain, and days alone in the wilderness, Casey told rescuers he had been comforted by a bear. Coincidence? Misidentified animals? The imagination of frightened children? Or something else entirely?
