Amys Story
Meet Amy Buchanan of Kelowna, BC. Angela Buchanan became very worried about 10-month old daughter, Amy, when she had flu-like symptoms and began to have trouble breathing. Diagnosed at Kelowna General Hospital, Angela was shocked to hear her daughter's symptoms were caused by diabetes - a rare condition for a child so young. Today, at six-years old, an insulin pump is just a regular part of life for Amy. The Buchanan family are not strangers to BC Children's Hospital - their twin boys, Ryan and Kyle, now 11, were born premature and spent time in the Neonatal Intensive Card Unit (NCIU).
