Close Calls 1 - Near Hits and Terrible Driving

******Trigger WARNING: At the end there are two clips of me being struck by drivers. The first was a hit and run from 2016. The second was more recent, a USPS driver inexplicable turned while stopped without signaling or looking.****** LA roads are filled with road raging, impatient, and indifferent drivers. My goal when I ride is to survive. This is a collection of some of the moments when drivers are either selfish, impatient, inattentive, or all of the above. Bad infrastructure gets a lot of blame, too. If you're traveling around Los Angeles without a car, the risk to cyclists, runners, pedestrians, people in mobility devices, and any other vulnerable road user is unacceptable. Yet, as a society, we accept car violence as if it were a natural part of life. Just a bunch of "accidents." Almost incredibly, I've only had two drivers actually hit me and injure me in 10 years of LA riding. Close calls, however, are almost a daily occurrence. This is the first volume of close encounters I've had (and witnessed) while navigating these streets.
