jump_sequoia // Speedbuild

Timelapse of jump_sequoia(_b1), my entry for the Jump Jam 2026. Made in 17 hours throughout 10 days, recorded at 1 fps and sped up 120x. When the movement stops for more than half a second it means I was compiling and testing on MMod. There is still work to be done, but I'm really happy about the result. The showcase video once the map is finished should be coming out relatively soon. I've wanted to make some (jump) mapping content for a while because it's pretty much non-existent in our community. The time constraints of this project meant it was a good opportunity to document the process. At first I thought this would be able to function as some sort of guide, but as it turns out, 17 hours is a lot to compress into a watchable format. Despite that, I hope one of my main goals is fullfilled and players are able to (kind of) see how maps are made. Maybe some of them want to give it a try next year... yes you, I'm talking to you. I want to make it clear that this isn't the definitive mapping process or anything. I have my own workflow and even then, this case in particular was different from my other maps because I had thought about almost everything days before I began creating it. Also, most maps don't involve so much vertex alignment. For a more detailed explanation of the jump mapping process you can watch this Kjr16 video:    • hammer class   There are plenty of Hammer tutorials out there, but regarding jumping, other places of interest are the TF2RJweekly or Momentum Mod Discord servers.
